Cultural activities are not absent from the island in summer, thanks to the var¬ied agenda of the municipality of Tinos and other institutions. What is especially popular are the festivals at the main square of the villages with traditional music, wine, snacks and dance, as well as the pick-nicks at the chapels among the wild flowers of all-green springy Tinos.
The entire island seems to be an open-air museum thanks to the popular artists’ artefacts. Nevertheless it is worth visiting the Folklore Museums of the villages; the brand-new, extremely enlightening and amazing museum of marble-art in Pyrgos; the old Ursulines’ school in Loutra, the museums and exhibitions in the area of Megalohari church, the permanent exhibition of Halepas at the Foundation of Tinian Culture as well as his home in Pyrgos.
It is also worth visiting the exhibi¬tions of artists who live and work in Tinos (sculptors, painters, tapestry artists), as well as the workshops of masters that keep the tradition alive (marble – masters, stone – sculptors, ceramists, basket-weavers).
